How is life coaching different than counseling or therapy?
Life coaching focuses on where you are now and where you’d like to go next. Together we clarify your goals and create practical steps toward greater freedom, wellbeing, and purposeful, fulfilling living. Coaching can be a stand-alone support, a follow-up to counseling, or a companion alongside it. Many coaches specialize in particular areas, so you can find someone who fits your unique needs.
Counseling or therapy is designed to explore your past experiences, ongoing mental health challenges, family patterns, trauma, and emotional wounds that are impacting your current life and relationships. Counseling is a powerful, healing resource. I strongly value professional counseling and am happy to connect you with excellent therapists in my area if that would serve you.
How do I get started?
We begin with a complimentary 1-hour discovery session. You don’t need to have everything figured out — some people come with clear goals, and others simply know they want “something to change.”
In this session we’ll talk about:
- where you are now
- where you’d like to be
- what you want more of in your life
I’ll ask thoughtful questions to help you gain clarity and perspective. You may or may not be ready to set goals yet — that’s perfectly okay.
We’ll also see if we’re a good fit to work together!
What’s involved in the process?
We start by looking at who you are — your strengths, values, and the beautiful way you were created. We celebrate what’s already healthy and working. Then we explore your dreams and desires, along with the obstacles that may be getting in the way.
You’ll receive purposeful “homework” each week to help you grow, heal, and move forward. Our work is designed to be attainable, measurable, and meaningful. Together we’ll plan the length of coaching and create both a current plan and a follow-up plan.
How long would I be meeting with my coach?
The length of coaching depends on your goals, growth, and the depth of work you’d like to do. Many clients choose to work together for about a year, while others prefer shorter or longer timeframes. I create individualized package plans after our discovery session so pricing reflects your specific needs rather than a one-size-fits-all model.
How long are sessions?
- Standard sessions are 90 minutes
- 60-minute sessions are available upon request
What if I live far away?
No problem at all. Most of my clients meet with me online by phone or Zoom, and it works beautifully.
Will you ever offer group coaching?
Yes. I offer group coaching opportunities throughout the year on a variety of topics. Please ask about current or upcoming groups to see if one may be a good fit for you.
Do you only work with Christian clients?
No. I work with anyone whose needs align with my training and experience. If at any point you would like to explore faith, learn more about God, or grow spiritually, I am happy to lead you in a way that brings you to the place of understanding how relationship and faith effect life going forward! My goal is to honor who you are and what matters most to you.
My promise to you …
- I will advocate for you and cheer you on
- I will challenge you kindly and help you stay accountable to yourself
- I will equip you with tools, resources, and fresh ways of thinking
- I will honor the strengths you already have and help you strengthen them further
- I will offer compassion while encouraging courageous growth
- I will help you discover the beauty and uniqueness of who you are
- I will celebrate all that God has placed within you
