Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions about life coaching, how sessions work, or whether coaching is the right fit for you? Here are a few common questions about working with Kim Foster and Fosters Life Coaching in Grapevine, TX and online.

How is life coaching different from counseling or therapy?

Life coaching focuses on where you are now and where you would like to go next. Together, we clarify your goals, identify what may be getting in the way, and create practical steps toward greater freedom, well-being, purpose, and fulfilling relationships.

Coaching can be a stand-alone support or a follow-up to counseling. It can also work alongside counseling in some seasons. Many coaches specialize in particular areas, so finding the right fit matters.

Counseling or therapy is designed to explore past experiences, ongoing mental health challenges, family patterns, trauma, and emotional wounds that may be impacting your current life and relationships. Counseling is a powerful healing resource, and Kim values professional counseling and therapy. When clinical support is needed, she is happy to connect clients with excellent therapists in the area.

How do I get started?

We begin with a complimentary one-hour discovery session. You do not need to have everything figured out. Some people come with clear goals, while others simply know they want something to change.

In this session we’ll talk about:

  • Where you are now
  • Where you would like to be
  • What you want more of in your life
  • What may be getting in the way

Kim will ask thoughtful questions to help you gain clarity and perspective. You may or may not be ready to set goals yet, and that’s perfectly okay.

Together, you’ll decide if coaching feels like a good next step.

What’s involved in the process?

We start by looking at who you are: your strengths, values, experiences, and the beautiful way you were created. We celebrate what is already healthy and working, then explore your dreams, desires, and the obstacles that may be getting in the way.

You’ll receive purposeful “homework” each week to help you grow, heal, and move forward. Our work is designed to be attainable, measurable, and meaningful. Together we’ll create both a current plan and a follow-up plan so you can continue taking healthy next steps.

How long will I meet with my coach?

The length of coaching depends on your goals, growth, and the depth of work you would like to do. Some clients choose to work together for a few sessions, while others continue for several months or longer.

Kim creates individualized coaching plans after the discovery session, so your coaching experience is based on your specific needs rather than a one-size-fits-all model.

How long are sessions?

  • Standard sessions are 90 minutes.
  • 60-minute sessions may be available upon request.

What if I live far away?

No problem at all. Many clients meet with Kim online by phone or Zoom, making coaching available whether you live in Grapevine, TX or somewhere else.

Will you ever offer group coaching?

Yes. Kim offers group coaching opportunities throughout the year on a variety of topics, including personal growth, relationships, healing, and identity. Please ask about current or upcoming groups to see if one may be a good fit for you.

Do you only work with Christian clients?

No. Kim works with anyone who needs support and is open to the coaching process.

If at any point you would like to explore faith, learn more about God, or grow spiritually, Kim is happy to walk with you in that conversation. Her goal is to honor who you are, what matters most to you, and the goals you want to work toward.
